Terrorism Lawsuit Overview and Goals

The Litle v. Arab Bank suit, which is being led by a consortium of American and Israeli law firms, is brought on behalf of numerous families who have been victims of terrorism in Israel. Courtney Linde, whose husband was killed by a roadside bomb as he provided security for a group of American diplomats visiting the Gaza Strip, was the first plaintiff to bring the lawsuit against Arab Bank and many others have followed in her courageous footsteps.

The lawsuit accuses Arab Bank of aiding and assisting Hamas and other terrorist organizations in maintaining a database containing the names of persons eligible for payments in return for suicide attacks. Such payments, according to the suit, were often made in US dollars filtered through their New York branch.

The suit, which seeks over $ 875 million in damages, was filed with the intention of cutting the flow of money into known terrorist organizations by bringing the banks participating in such transactions to justice. While this action may not stop terrorism, it is hoped that a large jury verdict may influence banking policies in the future. Click here to view a copy of the original filing.
